Dear Year 13 students,

As we come to the last day of term who would have thought that your year would end like this. I am so grateful that we managed to get some small celebrations in before you left us in March. (I will share your poem in our group!) I am very proud of the way that you have coped with this change. You have had to step up quickly and from what I have seen many of you have done this, gaining new jobs and taking on new responsibilities. I would like to thank you for how well you have adjusted, and I would also like to thank your parents for their continued support.

Please be re-assured that should you need our support with your progression to the next stage we are here to help. Those of you that have applied to university remember to keep an eye on UCAS Track and when you receive your final grades (which go straight from BTEC to your chosen university) use clearing if you need to find another offer. I will post some guidance on doing this in our group. There will also be appointments available in school following results day with our careers advisor should you require it. You will receive further information about this soon.

I know some of you are concerned about your results, I would like to re-assure you that in calculating your coursework grades we believe that we have been very accurate, taking into account predictions, past units, classwork and the results of previous year groups among other things. Any missing examination grades will be calculated by the exam board based on your previous examination grades.

Your final BTEC Level 3 grades will be available on the 12th of August. We will be emailing these to you. (GCSE Math’s and English grades will be emailed on the 20th August). You will have received a letter asking you to ring the school on 01977 664555 to confirm the email address that you would like your results sending to. This is very important, and I would urge you to do this as a matter of urgency. Without this we will not be able to release your results. We will also let you know when examination certificates become available. Finally I am very sad that I haven’t been able to say goodbye to you this week in person. You have been a fantastic year group that have made me laugh and given me some fantastic memories. Please keep in touch and let me know what you are up to and remember to share your experiences with future students through our group. I know that you will go on to be successful in whatever you choose to do, it has been a privilege being your Head of Sixth Form and I would like to wish you all the best for the future.

Best wishes
