Students set off from school at 3.30am yesterday morning to take on The Three Peaks as part of the fundraising efforts of The Cast! After a 7am briefing from our mountain leader guide, Esther, 12 students and staff scaled 2,277ft to reach the top of the first peak, Pen-y-ghent, in one and half hours. Following a trek to the Ribblehead viaduct, students recuperated with a cup of coffee at our support vehicle, driven by Mrs Bell. Setting off again, students reached the 2,415 ft summit of Whernside by 2.15pm. After a quick refreshment break at the bottom of Whernside, the final students raced to the 2,372 ft summit of Ingleborough, before trekking back in the dark with headtorches at a ferocious pace to complete the 24 mile challenge in 12 hours and 10 minutes. The winds were particularly high at altitude, so it was a fantastic effort by all involved, plus we raised around £1500 - amazing!!
